Module 6

Bubbl.us is an easy-to-use mind mapping programme which I have used before. However, a programme called Inspiration 8 which we have on the library computers at our school is, in my opinion, a much better programme- albeit at a price. Some of my students have recently used Inspiration 8 to create mind maps examining the impacts of natural hazards in Australia. One feature in Inspiration 8 is that, in addition to the mind map, there are links behind the mind map to organise notes. Well worth a look... there is a tutorial on the Atomic learning link on the home page of this Web 2 course.

Using the glogster programme was great fun and I am sure the students would enjoy all the options available to them. It allows for creativity while presenting information. My fear is that the students will be more focused on the development of the product, in this case the poster, rather than the information presented.
I tried to put a link here to the glogster that I created but I could not copy the link across... had a few attempts. Quite frustrating after the fun of creating.

  1. Thanks for the tip about Inspiration Anne, I didn't know about the links in the new version. I have been using it to try to synthesise my thoughts and my work for many years. You do get more features in software you buy, but the free ones are good if there are no funds for class licences of commercial software. I am enjoying your graphics, I love the one about the shared ideas.

  2. Hi Anne,

I have had the same frustration with the Glogster Program. Trying to import your Glog onto you Blog doesn't work using the 'share' functions through Glogster. The dialogue box that opens, when you try to share your glog, has some Html script at the bottom of it. I copied this and was then able to paste it into the post I was creating. All you need to do is click the Html fuction at the top right above the post you are working on and then paste it in.

  4. Anne, this is amazing and exciting. I find I learn more effectively when others tell me what they found exciting and helpful with something. Thanks!

  5. Hi Anne, it was a pity you had difficulty linking your Glog to your Blog. You need to click the "Link" button and then past your blog's URL into the box. I did it this way and didn't have any problems. I agree with your comments regarding the emphasis on presentation rather than the substance of the research.
