Module 4

Flickr is a useful web site where photos can be uploaded and shared. As a teaching resource students can share photos taken during fieldwork. The capturing of images is common place with students keen to use both their phones and cameras.
Photos and images can also be uploaded by teachers to illustrate points. With many of our students being visual learners, this tool will have many benefits and will enhance learning.
Care needs to be taken with the use of images subject to copyright. Teachers and students who take their own photos own the copyright to that image and can disseminate it as they see fit.
I found the use of the images in the instruction package difficult to manage due to their compression in a zip folder. It would have been of assistance to have much clearer instructions to access the images.

Module 3

Google Docs appears to have a range of uses both in the classroom and at a faculty organisational level. Flexibility is available as both existing and new documents can be shared. In addition the documents being created and developed can be accessed from any computer not limiting the use of the document to one network.
Students tend to be more engaged when creating documents on line. Google docs provides the opportunity for the students to work collaboratively and overcomes many of the issues that can arise from group work where a group of students are huddled around one computer all trying to contribute. Group works can be completed at home. When using speadsheets students can be responsible for the entering of different pieces of data to complete the spread sheet.
From a teacher's point of view it is possible to view who has added material and when. This is of great assistance when judging the successful operation of the group.
At a faculty level the collabortive development of both resources and assessment instruments would be posssible with the use of Google docs. The latest version would not be confused with earlier drafts ensuring that each faculty member is working on the same document.

Module 2 additional post

The blog could be a useful way for students who are undertaking the Business Research Task to record the steps they have undertaken in their research. Students could follow each other's progress and add comments to support and encourage. Comments could also offer suggestions about ways to overcome any difficulties being experienced by the blog writer.
Our current students are required to keep a written log. The blog could replace the written log and would be more likely to engage the students.

Module 2

The creation of the blog is a relatively straight forward process and I am beginning to see its uses. It is interesting to hear the discussions of other members of staff and their enthusiasm as they complete the blogs in the Web 2.0 course. It appears that the process is quite addictive. As I expand my understanding it will be interesting to see if I also become addicted.

Module 1

This programme has allowed me to explore the interactive area of the Internet. It has provided me with the opportunity to understand how to create an area where comments can be made.

Blogs could be used in the classroom for students to comment on issues or activities.
